With Christmas just around the corner, the festive season is well under way and the shopping centre’s are buzzing with activity. At this time of year many spend a little too much on things that they hope will make someone else happy. Many people celebrate December 25 with their families by thanking Santa Claus for the joy and peace that has descended on their home for a short while. And only a relatively small number of people will remember and ponder upon the real reason behind Christmas.
Over 2010 years ago Christ was born in Bethlehem as a Saviour to the world. As this busy time of year passes us by, let us not forget that He came on a mission. He set us an example and has a personal mission for each one of us. Reflect on the passage from Isaiah below and take note of the names ‘He will be called’.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. — Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)

It seems I wasn’t able to keep up the WordPress Weekly for too long. I skipped out on blogging last week. I hope my thoughts were missed by some, but I just had too much to do. This week is no different really, but I wanted to post something. I’ve kind of made up for last week with this post because it’s so long… I hope you have the time to read it all. The photo of the day is from the Mt Baker / Mt Shuksan area in Washington State, USA. This is at Picture Lake, but not the traditional view you see from this location. This is mainly because the water wasn’t still enough as well as me wanting to get a ‘non-cliché’ photo too.

Today’s photo is from Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Old Faithful erupts roughly every 90 minutes and draws a huge crowd. This geyser can erupt with a fountain higher than 55m into the air. A fun fact about Old Faithful:
Old Faithful is sometimes degraded by being made a laundry. Garments placed in the crater during quiescence are ejected thoroughly washed when the eruption takes place. Gen. Sheridan’s men, in 1882, found that linen and cotton fabrics were uninjured by the action of the water, but woolen clothes were torn to shreds. — Winser, Henry J. (1883). I got back from Big Camp yesterday after a great week. It was a very wet week with plenty of rain, but I still managed to get sunburnt on the one morning of sun. In the evening meetings, our speaker, Iki Taimi, presented a number of quality sermons. I’ll be sure to talk about them in the coming weeks. He presented his stuff in a great way and challenged us to step up to the ‘jump zone’ and take the leap.
Today I’ve got a post about the story at the beginning of John 8 – the woman caught in adultery and some photos from Mesa Verde, Colorado. I’ve also got a new section for you: Music.
